Market Performance

The markets in the first week of the year don’t give much information. We can use the high and low of January as a signal for the whole year. The whole first month can give you a signal. If you’re patient.

It’s a simple heuristic, if we are higher than the low of the January, go long. If we are lower than the high of the January go short or to cash. In the middle, just be patient.

Simple and easy.

We still see primarily bullish behavior in the indexes. It’s been down for the past few weeks but indexes are still bullish.

Volatility Corner:

VIX / VVIX improved! Blue up is good, blue down is bad. The blue line has a HIGH CORRELATION to overall markets. You see the up and down…we above the moving average but I think we could see increased volatility in the short-term.

The recent action was choppy. The market reflected it. Now we expect the market to reflect BULLISHNESS until it doesn’t. We’d like to see the blue line go above the 10 Week Moving Average.
